		<description>Yeah, the Man in the High Castle is great, though subtly so - same economy of backstory as &#039;Cry, My Tears, The Policeman Said. &#039; He just grabs an idea no-one else could have come up with and throws it in there as background noise - like a real life version of Vonnegut&#039;s Kilgore Trout. Ubik is the ultimate though - by turns hugely tedious, hilarious and plain weird.</description>

Agree with you that The Father Thing is excellent, too, although as big alternate histories go I did quite like the Man in the High Castle (despite all the I-Ching stuff).</description>
