Major Kitten Overhaul!

16th March 2013

It’s been a while since we launched Tea and Kittens - two and a half years, in fact - and the site has proved more popular than we ever imagined.

To date we’ve served over 500,000 pages of kittens to the citizens of the internet, and our Kitten Block tools have protected viewers from over 85,000 visits to the Daily Mail or Daily Express websites.

So, we thought it was time to give the website a quick clean-up. As of today, it’s been entirely re-designed to take more advantage of wide displays (bigger kittens!) and to load more quickly.

We hope you enjoy it. On to the next half a million hits!

Top Five: Feline iPad Fun

22nd January 2012

Like cats? Like games? Like the iPad? We do too - and Andy Boxall has rounded up five of the finest feline-related fun pastimes for tablet owners:

Cat Physics

This wonderful game sounds easy - just pass a ball between two waiting cats by tapping the screen - but naturally the levels get more complicated and you’ll need to use pinball-style flippers to influence the ball’s direction and even smash through windows in order to make progress.

There are 100 levels in total and the game is universal for the iPhone and iPad, and it’s also highly addictive and masses of fun to play. For extra cattiness, give each cat an extra tap to hear them meow.

Cataline HD

Cataline HD is an utterly gorgeous iPad-only puzzler featuring a ginger cat who needs to be guided to her dinner of a fish in a bowl. The game stands out due to its beautiful patchwork world of haphazardly stitched fabric, and very challenging gameplay.

As Cataline is launched from a catapult, comparisons can be drawn between it and Angry Birds, however thanks to the need to avoid raindrops and other hazards, the game is driven by timing rather than destruction.  A real hidden gem.

Simons Cat in “Purrfect Pitch”

Any cat fan will undoubtably already be familiar with the hit animation Simon’s Cat, and this is one of two official apps from creator Simon Tofield.

Purrfect Pitch is a musical challenge game with a virtual piano, and the object is to repeat the increasingly complicated tunes Simon’s cat plays. Although it’s designed for the iPhone, it scales up perfectly on the iPad and as you’d expect, it’s as adorable as the cartoon. Best of all, it’s free to download.

Stunt Cat!

A free, fun, five-minute distraction that’s ideal for those suffering from cat withdrawal symptoms. Stunt Cat is a simple high-score arcade game, where you guide your skydiving cat through the hoops while avoiding parachuting dogs and thunderclouds.

Controlled using the iPad’s accelerometer, you need quick reactions to make it through all the hoops, and while it may not be the most polished game available in the App Store, it’s a decent catty diversion; especially for free. Oh, and any game that labels the pause button as ‘pawse’ is OK by us.

Cat Stacking

Instead of trying to stack real cats, a pastime almost as difficult as herding them, how about stacking virtual cats on the iPad instead? Grab the fat cats floating around the screen and stack them off to the side, except each cat must share at least one characteristic with the cat it’s going to be sitting on. It’s much harder than it sounds too.

Designed for both the iPhone and the iPad, it’s hard not to love a game which suggests you ‘see the cat, be the cat’ in order to master it!
